Zoeller battery backup sump pump
Zoeller's Aquanot line includes the Fit 508 (with built-in Wi-Fi), the Spin 508 (same pump without Wi-Fi), and the entry-level Key 507. ProPak combos pair any 508 backup with a Zoeller primary pump pre-piped at the factory.
The Aquanot Fit 508 and Spin 508 share the same pump: 34 GPM (2,040 GPH) at 10 ft at 12.7 V, 5.5 hours continuous on a fully charged battery, 3-year warranty.[2][1] The Fit adds built-in Wi-Fi and an included high-water sensor; the Spin omits both. Zoeller is the only major-brand backup pump that publishes flow data measured on an actual 12V deep-cycle battery and explicitly notes that other manufacturers' figures may read 40–80% higher due to test-method differences.[1]

Aquanot Fit 508 vs. Spin 508
Both the Fit and Spin use the same high-efficiency double-sealed DC pump and the same Z Control microprocessor controller.[2] The differences are in the connectivity and sensor package:
- Wi-Fi: The Fit has built-in Wi-Fi with Z Control cloud connectivity — it sends alerts for pump activation, fault conditions, and high water, and accepts remote commands (silence, reset, test) through the Z Control app. The Spin has no Wi-Fi; no add-on module is listed.[3]
- High-water sensor: The Fit includes an independent high-water sensor that alarms and activates the pump in an emergency. The Spin requires the add-on sensor (P/N 10-4830) to get this function.[2]
- Price: The FM3525 sales sheet lists the Fit at a higher price tier ($$$$) and the Spin at a lower tier ($$$).
The Fit 508 technical data sheet (FM3124) documents performance on an actual 12V deep-cycle battery, giving 1,800 GPH (30 GPM) at 10 ft using a 175-minute reserve-capacity battery.[1] The 2024 sales sheet lists 34 GPM at 12.7 V for both models — a slightly optimistic condition (battery at near-full charge).[2] Neither the Spin's technical data sheet (FM3165) nor a battery-condition figure for the Spin is currently available from the manufacturer's publicly accessible pages.
Aquanot Fit 508 in detail
The Fit 508 carries a 7 A charger — published in the FM3124 data sheet — that keeps the battery charged and drives the self-test diagnostics.[1] The controller monitors switch connections, detects an air-locked pump, and identifies whether a continuous-run condition is caused by a stuck switch or blocked/frozen discharge pipe. The self-test schedule is user-adjustable through the Z Control app.
The Fit 508 requires a pit at least 18 in. wide and 22 in. deep.[1] Minimum battery: a group 27 deep-cycle battery with 175-minute reserve capacity.
Model numbers for the Fit 508: 508-0014 (backup only), 508-0015 (ProPak with M53 primary), 508-0016 (ProPak with M98 primary), 508-0020 (ProPak with M63 primary — 5-year warranty on this configuration).[2]
Aquanot Spin 508 in detail
The Spin 508 shares the Fit's pump performance and Z Control diagnostic logic, but its charger amps are not published.[3] The adjustable self-test schedule is retained. The controller monitors for the same fault conditions as the Fit but cannot push alerts remotely without Wi-Fi. Alerts are displayed locally and trigger the audible alarm.
Model numbers for the Spin 508: 508-0005 (backup only), 508-0006 (ProPak with M53 primary), 508-0007 (ProPak with M98 primary).[2]
If you do not need remote Wi-Fi alerts and plan to run a separate water alarm or smart home sensor, the Spin costs less while keeping the same pump and diagnostic intelligence. If remote alerts matter — especially for a vacation property or a basement rarely visited during storms — the Fit is the straightforward choice.
Aquanot Key 507
The Aquanot Key 507 (model 5070005) is an entry-level backup pump system.[4] The product page claims up to 7 hours continuous on a fully charged battery (another section on the same page says "up to 6 hours" — the two figures are inconsistent). Battery groups 27, 29, and 31 are accepted; warranty is 3 years.
Zoeller does not publish a flow performance curve for the Key 507. The GPH capacity at 10 ft is not available from any manufacturer source checked. Without flow data, the Key 507 cannot be placed in the comparison table above. If you are evaluating the Key 507, contact Zoeller (800-928-7867) for the installation instruction sheet FM3256, which may include a performance curve.
ProPak combo configurations
ProPak systems arrive pre-piped from the factory with a Zoeller primary pump and an Aquanot backup, both with check valves and float switches installed. The primary pump options are:[2]
- M53 (3/10 HP): used with Spin (508-0006) and Fit (508-0015)
- M63 (3/10 HP, cast iron): used with Fit only (508-0020; this configuration gets a 5-year warranty)
- M98 (1/2 HP): used with Spin (508-0007) and Fit (508-0016)
All ProPak primary pumps come with the Zoeller LED plug that shows at a glance whether power is present at the outlet. The backup pump's specs — flow, charger, battery, runtime — are identical to the backup-only version regardless of which ProPak is chosen.
Battery compatibility and runtime
The Aquanot 508 battery box fits group 27, 29, and 31 batteries (maximum dimensions 13 in. × 7.5 in. × 9.5 in.).[1] Zoeller sells two batteries directly: the group 27 AGM (P/N 10-1450, 175-minute reserve capacity) and the size 31 wet-cell (P/N 10-0761, 200-minute reserve capacity). A second battery case (P/N 10-5184) holds a second battery in parallel, roughly doubling runtime.
The FM3124 data sheet states: battery life with a 175-minute reserve capacity battery running continuously is approximately 5.5 hours. Most operation is intermittent — the system protects for "extended periods dependent upon stop-start requirements and multiple battery arrangements."[1]
Installation notes
The FM3124 data sheet specifies: minimum pit size 18 in. diameter × 22 in. deep, and notes that controls and wiring should be installed by a qualified licensed electrician to NEC and OSHA requirements.[1] Not recommended for installations with more than 20 ft of total dynamic head.
Discharge plumbing, battery maintenance, and initial setup are covered in installation instruction FM3120 (Fit) and FM3166 (Spin), available on Zoeller's Aquanot Resources page.
How Zoeller compares to other brands
Zoeller is transparent about test conditions in a way that most other brands are not. Basement Watchdog and Wayne do not state the test voltage or battery condition for their published GPH figures; Liberty Pumps distinguishes between a fixed 12.1 V curve and an AC-power-on curve. This makes Zoeller's 1,800 GPH (FM3124, 12V battery) a conservatively measured figure that tends to be lower than competitors' published numbers — but it is the number closest to what you will actually see in your pit during a real outage.
See the backup sump pump pillar page for a cross-brand table, and the Wayne and Basement Watchdog pages for those lineups.
